Last week I shared with you 4 Rituals That Will Make You Happy, and as a continuation of my new Lifestyle inspired Friday Finds, I'm sharing with you all 5 Quick Tips for a Pre-Summer Detox! It's almost summer and a lot of questions that I get from teaching at the yoga studio involve the dreaded phrase "losing weight". While I never have a specific answer as to "how to" or "why you're not" losing weight (because everyone's body is different and you really have to find what works for you and your body), I do have some quick tips to for a pre-summer detox to help you reinvigorate your clean-eating habits and kick start the bikini body you've always wanted.
1. morning breakfast smoothie
While I start my mornings off with a latte with coconut milk, I always make myself a smoothie for breakfast.
More specifically, this Morning Matcha Smoothie. The ginger is super detoxifying and helps fight inflammation;
the lemon juice is nature's cleanser; and the green tea provides a boost of energy and helps speed up your metabolism.
2 cups lightly packed baby spinach
4 teaspoons roughly chopped fresh ginger
2 frozen bananas
4 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons matcha powder
1 ½ cups coconut water (or use your favorite Lemon Ginger Kombucha)
4 tablespoons Sun Potion Tocos (or use your favorite protein powder)
bee pollen, optional
2. practice heated yoga
I used to practice non-heated yoga thinking that I could never convert to a sticky, gross and stinky heated yoga room,
but now I am a hot yoga addict and I a truly believe in the detoxifying benefits of heated yoga. Quite simply put,
you're sweating out all of your body's toxins through your skin.
3. stay hydrated
It might be counterintuitive that drinking a lot of water gets rid of water weight, but when your body is dehydrated,
it actually retains water, thus you feel bloated and heavy all the time. I suggest drinking coconut water!
4. drink kombucha
I would like to say that a healthy gut is the key to everything! There are endless benefits to drinking Kombucha and I always tell
people that ever since I started drinking Kombucha on a daily basis a year and a half ago, I haven't gotten sick ever! I
brew my own kombucha, but my favorite brand is G.T's!
5. ditch excess sugar and processed foods
Of all the tips, this is probably the hardest one to keep up with, but it's also probably the most important one! Your body is
not meant to properly process excess and processed sugars and foods thus leading to inflammation, bloating and unncesary
fat storage instead of burning it off for energy.
